	In cleaning monuments, we suggest having it professionally done for one important reason. The chemicals that must be used for maximum results are acidic. If not handled by professionals the chemicals can permanently damage your monument. We use the most recent technological advances in cleaning memorials as well as attending workshops for the latest cleaning techniques. We professionally clean marble in addition to granite memorials.

	The two most common problems monuments face are improper or deteriorating foundations, which causes the stone to lean and joints to break. (A joint is the compound that seals the die to the base). South Boston Memorials is fully equipped to handle any of these common problems. Special situations would require one of our trained personnel to view the monument in order to best evaluate the problem.

Most types of lettering can be done on-site in the cemetary, however, cemetary lettering mainly consists of death dates for pre-need monuments and markers. Advantages to "on-site" lettering is quick and easy sandblasting as well as the joints never having to be broken. Due to the changing economic conditions, prices will vary.
